Research Interests
My research investigates resilience; the positive adaptation to adversity. Currently my senior thesis investigates this amongst first-generation college students. In the future I wish to investigate this phenomenon further; within the Latino community, gender differences, and cultural relevance in regards to coping with stress.

Research Experience
May, 2013 – Present Laboratory Manager, Cognitive Science Laboratory. Connie Shears Ph. D., Laboratory Director.
The research program analyzes possible hemispheric differences in the processing of emotional stimuli, primarily through inference processing. Duties include supervising data collection; and the lead communicator between our lab and the psychology department; develop hypothesis and scripting for new experiments.

Direct research duties included solicitation and screening of research subjects; conducting research protocols using real-time data acquisition; formatting of acquired data for statistical analyses; programming of experiments using Direct RT v2008.1; stimuli development and norming; writing and editing possible abstract and paper submission; and data analysis using SPSS v20.0 statistical software.

Position: Child Advocate
Supervisor: Joan Kilgore
Duties include making children feel comfortable before and after forensic interviews. Children include those who have been abused. My role is to alleviate the trauma of the experience and have the opportunity to spend quality time with social workers, district attorneys, and forensic interviewers.
